Music cover research

2 comments:

  1. This well known American music magazine, 'Vibe', is a great example of projecting all the nessassary devices to create a successful magazine. This cover is polysemic as it contains many meanings, as it relates to different aspects of the music scene. The covers image is used to symbolise the type of music that the audiebce want to read about: Chris Brown is the feature article photo, which represents his R&B style. The plugs used all grab the audience in finding out what new exciting news has developed since the last issue: 'Can Cory Brooker save Newark?' The is a form of intertextuality as the images relate to the text; 'Is that Chris Brown', with a image of him next to this text. This magazine is successful in pulling the audience in, with its main images of well known celebrities, and plugs that relates to theurban lifestyle, which is clearly the target audience.

  2. Becca you haven't applied any semiotics to your analysis. There is no progress from your original annotated front cover.
